-The word “role” in our context it can mean men’s function in the church
-It tells us that – a spiritual matured Christian man in the church has some roles to do
• THE ROLES OF MEN IN THE CHURCH
-Men should remember that from the creation we were designed to take up roles and in-charge of our environments – Genesis 2:15
-Apart from our families, Church is one of our other family / environment we must take charge in different roles as spiritual leaders – Ephesians 5:23
• THREE ROLES OF MEN IN THE CHURCH
1). LEADERSHIP – Joshua 24:14-18
-Joshua stood up as a leader for his family regardless of the situation
-It is the role of a man to provide direction
and guidance for his family
- A man ought to lead his family Spiritually:
- Make sure they serve the Lord
- Attend church services and activities
- Read the Bible and Pray
- Give to the Lord
- Grow spiritually
2). PROTECTION and CARE – John 19:25-27
-John the disciple of Jesus took the role of taking care of Mary the Mother of Jesus
-Men in the church should protect and care for the interest of the:
- Church and its ministries
- Leadership and the leaders
- Needy believers/people (hospital visitation)
3). PROVISION and SUPPORT – 1 Timothy 5:8
-Anyone (MEN) are instructed to make sure they provide for their families and immediate people
-Men should be ready to provide support to their church and leaders
- Spiritually
- Socially
- Emotionally
- Economically, etc.
•THREE ROLES OF MEN IN THE CHURCH …
– Men should make sure the 3 above category are safe and cared for
– Men in the church should take charge of what Jesus would have done if He was around physically
• CONCLUSION
– Men at DPC – during this week of service for 2022, let us remember that it is our fellow man – Joseph from Arimathea who provided for the burial of Jesus Christ – Matthew 27: 57-60.
-I pray that what we have discussed will remind us all to take up our roles in the church with lots of commitment.
